Listed below are Canadian companies that will sell anime products via mail (or
e-mail in most cases). While you can easily order from companies outside of
Canada, by buying from companies based in Canada you can often avoid paying
duty (but not the GST), exchange, and more expensive international shipping
fees.
Addresses and phone numbers are generally not listed here for companies with
web sites; please navigate to the web sites using the links provided, to see
the most up-to-date information for the company.
Please note that the Canadian Anime Shopping Guide has no affiliation with any
of the companies listed below, so use them at your own discretion. You may want
to consider a number of things before ordering from an online company:
-
Has their website been updated recently? If not, the company may not even be in
business anymore.
-
If you want to pay by credit card, do they have secure online ordering? If not,
do they have a mailing address, phone number, or physical storefront by which
you can give payment details? In general, it is not a good idea to be entering
credit card numbers on a non-secure web page or in an e-mail message.
-
What other payment options are available? You should avoid sending cash in the
mail; cheques and money orders are preferable alternatives.
-
What contact methods (e.g. e-mail, phone numbers, mailing addresses, or a
physical store) are available in case you have questions about the availability
of products, the status of an order, or returns and exchanges?
-
What, if any, are the policies for returning or exchanging products for which
you are not satisfied?
-
What shipping options are available, and how much do they cost? If you are
concerned about cost, does the company ship by conventional surface mail or
parcel post? If you are concerned about delivery time, can the company ship by
courier?
-
How long does it take for the company to reply to a query? If the company takes
weeks to reply, you may want to think twice about ordering from them. There is
one exception to this; many of the pages listed here belong to anime fans as
opposed to actual companies. For these pages, you may experience slightly
longer response times, but you should still be able to expect a relatively
prompt reply.
-
Have any other people had experience ordering from the company? Some people
have sent me comments regarding their transactions with companies listed on
this page. In such cases I have added their comments to the appropriate
entries. Note, however, that positive comments do not constitute a guarantee of
the company's future performance, and negative comments do not necessarily
reflect on the experiences of other customers.
Note: all web sites listed below are external to the Shopping Guide, so I do
not guarantee their availability. Please report any broken links to
casg@spamex.com.
